How CatLingo works
You tap the microphone button, your cat makes a sound, and the app measures it for a few seconds. Seven properties of the sound are extracted on your phone — length, base frequency, whether the pitch rises or falls, noisiness, brightness, loudness and syllable count — and compared to twelve intent profiles. The nearest profile becomes the result, and the confidence figure is how clearly it beat the runner-up.
There is no randomness anywhere: the same sound always gives the same answer.
It is not a translator
Cats do not have a language to translate. CatLingo estimates an intent from measurable properties of a sound. It is for entertainment, and it is not veterinary advice. If something is wrong with your cat, see a vet.
Common questions
The result seems wrong. Try again in a quieter place and closer to the cat. Then use Was that right? → No on the result screen — with CatLingo PRO your answers gradually shift the profiles toward your own cat.
It says "No sound detected". The sound was too quiet or too short to measure. Move closer, or open Me → Sensitivity and set it to High. Note that higher sensitivity also lets room noise into the measurement.
Purring gives odd results. Purring is the known weak spot. It is not a periodic sound like a meow, so the pitch estimate is unstable and the engine leans on noisiness and length instead. Expect lower confidence there.
Can I use it without the microphone? Yes. Decline the permission and use the sample sounds — they are synthesised on your phone and run through exactly the same engine.
Where are my readings stored? Only on your phone. We have no copy. Me → Delete data erases everything at once, and so does uninstalling.
I changed phones and my history is gone. There is no account and no cloud backup, so history does not travel between devices. Your PRO subscription does travel — sign in with the same Google account and use Me → Restore purchases.
Subscription
CatLingo PRO is a weekly auto-renewing subscription with a 3-day free trial. It unlocks unlimited readings, the full journal, the mood chart, multiple cat profiles and the per-cat learned model.
To cancel: Google Play → Menu → Subscriptions → CatLingo → Cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
Refunds are handled by Google Play. Start at the Google Play refund page. Write to us as well and we will help where we can.
I paid but PRO is not active. Open Me → Restore purchases while signed in with the Google account you used. If that does not work, email us.
